I’m busy making sure people are swiping so let’s keep this brief. I was one of the co-founders of Tinder. I left after another co-founder sexually harassed me. I wanted to keep making apps. And I was hungry like the wolfe for a more feminist app.
Bumble was created to keep women safe while still letting them swipe. We received tons of feedback from women who “were tired of being spammed with annoying messages” (“Frequently”). On Bumble only women are allowed to send the first message. This replaces the heteronormative belief that men have to make the first move. It also cuts down on the annoying messages and trolling women might receive.
Bumble’s whole culture is built on providing safety and respect to its users. Tinder encourages users to “keep swiping.” On Bumble “connecting has never been more fun, safe, or awesome” (“About”). FYI I may have referenced Duran Duran but I hate Rio. If I don’t respond in a few days it’s because I’m busy working on new feminist apps, trying to change a lot of men's "wolf" dating mentality.
